At the beginning of February I ran a series of posts about my "guinea pig" clients. These three people were my first long-term clients and helped me learn alot about health coaching as I've worked through my course at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition since last July. I've had the pleasure of working on a short term, more informal basis with lots of folks though. Some of them literally consulted with me on one phone call and were off and running with that special piece of information or encouragement they needed. Others checked in every few weeks or months and slowly with my guidance reached amazing health goals. Still others asked me to design very specific, brief programs to help them basically "reset" their health. I wanted to share their experiences, in their own words, so that I could further spread the word about how powerful and a helpful a health coach could be in your life.

My top three goals working with Angie were to stop the stomach bloating! For the past 4 years I experienced stomach bloating that was out of this world. At times it was so uncomfortable that I would have to unbotton my pants and could barely function—talk about awkward when it happened at work. If you want a mental image, it would bloat so much that I looked at least 7 months pregnant. I also wanted to lose a couple pounds and chill out! My anxiety and stress was through the roof. Angie was able to help me work toward these goals by introducing me to the FODMAP list, which I used as a guide for a seven-day experiment. During those seven days, I was able to see what foods caused the bloating. Eventually I switched over to Paleo and never looked back. On top of all the food related issues I was dealing with, I was also enduring a lot of stress and anxiety between work and personal life…who doesn’t these days! She was able to provide me with many different options outside of changing my eating habits that would help with the psychological side of the issues. Since I’m a prescription drug hater she was able to suggest natural methods that would combat those feelings. The biggest tangible change I have noticed since working with Angie was, Oh man! A lot has changed since working with Angie. I’ve lost about five pounds while exercising and eating Paleo. I truly think my motivation has increased by feeding my body with good fuel and exercise. Ultimately, this has lifted my spirits and I feel like I have more energy. Also, I haven’t had a single day where my stomach bloated to the point where it was so uncomfortable that I had to unbutton my pants! This is MAJOR progress for me because it has been going on in my life for nearly four years now. The most significant overall change I have noticed was my overall mood and happiness has definitely changed! I’m the type of person who likes to simply “feel good” inside and out. I would describe Angie the “Health Coach Whisperer" . . . yes, I got that name from the “Dog Whisperer." But, seriously. I would recommend Angie to everybody in the world!

My son was diagnosed with Tourette's, research pointed me toward diet changes to help with it. My goal was to find someone to help with ideas and advice in moving in the right direction. I also have been on a journey of my own to eat healthier and lose weight. My son's diagnosis just confirmed we needed to make a big change in our diets. Angie was a huge help! She gave me tons of great advice and gave me great resources to help me along the way in finding our way through going gluten-free and Paleo.

Two years ago my husband’s cardiologist told him quite bluntly to go on the Paleo diet. We both converted almost on the spot. The reason we were able to handle the transition, learn the process and convert so rapidly (many people need to take it all a step at a time) is because Angie “had our back." She reviewed the doctor’s edicts along with our needs, expectations and concerns and walked us through it all step by step. The results have been more than amazing with lowered cholesterol, normalization of blood sugar, weight loss and on and on. We are aware that Paleo is not the be all and end all of health care steps, but it has proved a wonderful tool . . . not to mention a delicious way to eat. We have seen how Angie’s assistance has helped others in our family and some of our friends even some who initially said “No way."

When I began working with Angie, my main goal was weight loss. I have been struggling with my weight since the birth of my first child 12 years ago. I had tried almost everything under the sun. Angie was able to help me work toward my weight loss goals by introducing me to the Paleo diet (lifestyle). We worked on planning meals and how to shop "Paleo-style" . . . LOL. The most tangible change that I have noticed since working with Angie has been preparing more home cooked meals and snacks for me and my family. As a mother of three and always on the go, planning healthy meals and executing the plan have been challenges for me, but Angie is always supportive and provides new ideas that will help me with these challenges. The most significant overall change I have noticed is some weight loss and improved joint pain. I no longer feel achy after running or exercise. Before I never related these feelings to what I was eating. Now if I make a non-Paleo food choice, I can definitely feel it in my knees. I appreciate Angie's patience and understanding. She is always available to answer questions in a way that is simple and easy to understand. I would recommend Angie to everyone. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable in many areas of health and nutrition, she has a passion for helping others be and feel their best.

My goals were to detox in a healthy way. The Lemonade Diet isn't what I was looking for and Angie helped me do this by guiding me through a diet aimed at cleansing. I noticed how clear I felt and pretty amped up. This was after the first couple of detox days (those were tough). I was eliminating waste very quickly and not holding water weight. I felt strong and vibrant. Angie was encouraging and very knowledgeable in her field. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to eat clean for any number of reasons long term or for a short term boost like I did. I will continue to focus on clean eating and use the information Angie provided me with.
